White Rock Festival of Lights 2019

The White Rock Festival of Lights Society is honoured to have the opportunity to stage this inaugural event on the Waterfront This inaugural event is happening due to the collaboration of many people and organizations in our wonderful City of Lights by the Sea. 
Join us on Facebook and Instagram, reach out to friends and family and come down to the White Rock Waterfront from December 7th to January 5th, 2020 to see the lights.

“Living Tree” Light up the Waterfront

Thank you for your support. Trees to be picked up January 6. If you will not be picking up your tree, or if you want a tree please drop us a message.

  • A 6 foot (1.8m), 7 foot (2.1m) or 8 foot (2.5m) “living tree”, yours to decorate appropriately
  • A set of multi-coloured lights and space for a family or corporate sign that you provide
  • The ability to “donate” or take home your “living tree” at the end of the Festival
  • Recognition of your purchase/donation through social, web and print media (
  • Your support of the project this year will help ensure that the event will continue in future years.

Your visit

All you need to know

Drive along the length of Marine Drive to see the 30,000 lights along the promenade. Visit the Christmas Market at the White Rock Museum. Take a stroll down the iconic White Rock Pier. Then stop to wander through the Festival of Lights. The Magical Meadow with 5,000 lights and 1,000 lanterns designed and painted by many of our local elementary schools. The 65 “Living Christmas Trees” decorated by those who purchased trees helping to fund the Festival. Finally stop, gaze and take a selfie at the beautiful, sparkling Waterfront park feature Christmas tree.

  • When does the Festival take place?

The event will take place 4:30-10pm every day from Friday, December 6th until Sunday, January 5th. Come down and enjoy the lights … walk along the waterfront.

  • Where are the lights?

The lights will be focused around the Museum and Memorial Plaza. The White Rock Pier and Museum will have new lighting in place that will add to the ambiance of the event.

  • Where are the entrances to the Festival?

The Entrances to the Festival will be at Vidal Street and the Memorial Plaza. Park in the brand-new parkade at the corner of Vidal and Columbia.
